Key West Ideas
Key West is an easy 1 hour drive from Key Colony Beach.  You will travel some 54 miles over
34 bridges.   You will pass over and between some of the prettiest blue waters you have ever
seen.  The speed limit will vary between 50 and 35 MPH.  Don't rush (remember you aren't in
America any more, you're in the
CONCH REPUBLIC), you may miss a Key Deer, or a dolphin.

Sit back and enjoy the journey.

Besides, if you followed directions, you don't have a watch on anyway
Key West
The number one reason people go the Key West is for the NIGHT LIFE.  Now don't get me wrong
you can have a hell of a time all night long - just be careful.

The number two reason is for the
SUNSET

There is also a strong Gay presence in Key West.  You won't see "THEM" skipping down Duval,
holding hands, wearing leather chaps, signing show tunes.  "THEY" won't be lurking behind every
door hitting on you.  "THEY" will be just like every other tourist in Key West.

Key West's motto is
One Large Human Family.  Embrace it, welcome it, believe it.

Remember that a DUI is a serious crime on US 1. And there is so much more to do than drink.

It is said that Key West is where the weird go to turn pro.
You will see an eccentric group of individuals.  Many funny, many having fun, many making a
living.  The homeless are for the most part harmless.  Don't fear them, they'll leave you alone if
you leave them alone.

---------------There I'm done preaching.  Now on to the good stuff---------------
Bars and Restaurants and things to do
A 90 minute bone tingling tour of Bone Isle.  Ask for Donna or Magic Tim.
Tell them Greg and Cady sent you.
About a mile walk.  Tours nightly at 7 & 9

There are two tour companies in Key West.  The Conch Train and the Old Town Trolley.  I'd
suggest the Old Town Trolley.  You can get on and off, and ride it all day for 1 price.

If you get lucky, you may get Tim for your driver - if you do say hi from us.
Head on down to the Key West Bight and discover what is off Duval (The trolley stops right next to
Schooner Wharf Bar).

Spend an afternoon listening to Michael McCloud, grab a bite to eat, a bucket of Kalik, relax and get a
sense of the old Key West.
Your visit to Key West wouldn't be complete without a stop at Sloppy
Joe's.  Pop in, have a meal or beverage where Hemingway hung out.

Daily entertainment
Irish Kevin's motto is
               I came, I drank, I don't remember
Not a place for the faint of heart.  I've never eaten here, but I have had fun here.
Turtle Kraals

Another nice "off Duval" place.  Good food, nice place to get away from the crowd
Half Shell Raw Bar.  It's near Turtle
Kraals.  Another nice place to eat and get
away from the crowd on Duval.

Nice easy walk along the board walk.

Watch for Jimmy Buffets recording studio
along the way.  Didn't see it?  That's just
the way he wants it.  "Hidden" right out in
the open.
The Conch Republic( (conch Farm to
the locals) is a real nice spot to eat.
More upscale than many places, but
still a place where you can go and just
hang out.

It's on the boardwalk.  Entertainment

Good food,  Cold Drinks
What more would you want.
Blue Heaven is a breakfast institution.

Get there early or be prepared to wait.  Of course a wait isn't the worst thing, you can sit around with one of
their FAMOUS Bloody Marys and chill.

The food is something you have to try before you leave the island.  If you miss it - You'll have to go back to
Key West again.

Is that so bad????
You may have seen Henrietta's featured on the Food Channel.  If not don't worry, I'll fill you in.  Her
coconut strips are to die for.
I MEAN IT If you've never had them, try them, you'll never leave Key West
again without them.  I like the original version.  But then I'm a traditional kind of guy ;-)

Located just across the street from Blue Heaven.
I've added a link to
the webcams for the
bars.  Take a look a
the sites, get a feel for
them.

On your next trip you
can call them and
make them groan
